The Mile High Freedom Bands are proud to announce our 38th season starting August, 2021. After a full virtual season in 2020-21, MHFB is thrilled to be returning to the stage for live events this year.

“We are incredibly proud of what our members were able to accomplish last season through the pandemic,” said MHFB Artistic Director Derek Hebert. “We are one of the few arts organizations that avoided cancelling any events and produced our full planned season last year. Now, it’s finally time to get back together. Everything we do this season will have a deeper meaning and hopefully we can all appreciate how special it really is just to be able to be together in the same space to create amazing music and art together.”

The new season brings some of our most popular shows back to live audiences including Spooktacular! Spooktacular!, the Carnival Ball, Melodies of Pride, and A Midsummer Night’s Jazz. Our MHFB Winds and MHFB Swing ensembles each have a four concert series lineup and MHFB Corps will return to the streets for Denver Pride and to continue nearly four decades of continuous appearances in the Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

In the summer of 2022, MHFB Youth finally returns with a free week-long band camp for LGBTQ+ high school musicians from throughout the Denver metro region. MHFB Youth participants have a week to meet new friends, connect with the greater LGBTQ+ community, and make awesome music together. The Youth bands will also participate in all of MHFB’s summer events during Pride Week! More information about the program is at MHFB.org/youth.

Season 38 kicks off with our new Rainbow Tie Gala, featuring solos and small ensembles from MHFB and the community. Community musicians interested in participating can get all of the details at MHFB.org/rainbowtie21.

The MHFB Board of Directors is currently working with our venues to finalize audience guidelines for our upcoming events. Ticket sales will open once those guidelines are available.

Information for all events is available at MHFB.org/events.
