Thank you to everyone who had a part in making our return to live music a great success in Season 38! As great as it was getting back into the routines of playing and performing, we are even more excited to start moving forward again in MHFB’s 39th season in 2022-23! We have a fantastic season of events lined up for you in this upcoming year.

MHFB Winds, our symphonic band features four events this year. The season will start with the ever-popular Spooktacular! Spooktacular! XII: The Director Strikes Back; featuring a 2pm family-friendly matinee and a 7pm adult-oriented evening show. This winter, we will go on an a storybook adventure with Once Upon a Time…. Our spring concert takes us to the lights of Broadway with Viva La Vie Boheme! Then Winds wraps up the season with our 12th kickoff to Denver Pride in City Park, Melodies of Pride.

MHFB Swing, our jazz big band will also have four concerts this year. Swing kicks off the season in September with Glitter and Gold. Coming back in December, we have the return of our jazzy holiday show with The Gingerbread Ball. In the spring, we head down the bayou for our 9th Krewe of Olympus Carnival Ball in the beautiful McNichols Building. Swing will close out the season with our free City Park concert A Midsummer Night’s Jazz.

MHFB Corps, our marching and pep bands have a busy season ahead! Watch us in the Broadway Halloween Parade, out in the city with Holiday Caroling, at our 37th consecutive appearance in the Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and of course at Denver Pride. Our pep band has been popping up at events all over the metro area, so watch for announcements as those events come up!

MHFB Youth is making a comeback in 2023 as well! This completely free program for high school musicians has been revamped to include access to all areas of the MHFB ensembles, concert band, jazz band, marching band, and pep band. Students will get rehearsals with experts, free food, and awesome performances, all in an inclusive and welcoming space. Registrations are open now through May 31, 2023!

The third annual Rainbow Tie Ball is coming next April featuring solo and small group musicians from MHFB and throughout the community. This year, the ball is moving to the McNichols Civic Building for what’s sure to be an amazing night of music.
