Season 37 continues with the latest broadcast event featuring MHFB Swing

MHFB continues our virtual season with The Flapper Ball, a throwback to the roaring 1920’s. The Flappers of the 20’s pushed the boundaries of gender roles, represented sexual and economic freedom, and resemble many of today’s modern youth. Jazz and swing music emerged during this time and became recognized as a major form of musical expression. As a result of Prohibition – speakeasies, secret places where people who objected to conservative values could drink alcohol, relax, and listen to swinging jazz music, arose in America’s major cities. The roaring 20s resulted in a cultural shift in America that continues to be celebrated today.

The concert will be broadcast on YouTube at 7:00pm MST on Saturday, April 10, 2021. As with all of the MHFB broadcasts, the event is free and there are no tickets required. Donations are appreciated to help the bands continue to thrive through COVID and beyond.
