Donnie Lemley

Donnie Lemley joined MHFB in early 2015 and in September of that year, was appointed Assistant Artistic Director of the Mile High Freedom Bands.  He is the assistant conductor of Freedom Winds and Freedom Corps and the director of the Freedom Youth program.  Donnie also serves as an ex-officio member of the MHFB Board of Directors.

Donnie has taught 5th grade through high school band in public schools in Kansas and Colorado since 2001.  Ensembles and events he has implemented, adjudicated, and directed include: concert band, marching band, jazz band, musical theatre orchestra pit, pep band, solo/ensemble festivals, and marching festivals.  He has performed with various notable trumpet players and institutions such as Vincent DiMartino, Allen Vizzutti, Fountain City Brass Band, Kansas City Civic Opera, Kansas City Symphony, Denver Gay Men’s Chorus, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and Fifth of Brass Quintet.

Donnie holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kansas State University, and a Master of Music Performance degree (trumpet) from the University of Missouri-KC Conservatory of Music and Dance.  He loves living in Colorado.  If he’s not making music in the city, he’s in the mountains having the time of his life.
